June '12

June in the North East sees .....

The tail-end of the very short Northumbrian asparagus season

The beginning of the soft fruit – strawberries galore!

Seasonal veg include peas, beans, broccoli, new potatoes and early tomatoes, not to mention a wide variety of salad leaves

The new lowland spring lamb will be available – and the first of the new ‘vintage’ honey should appear towards the end of the month.

The hens, ducks and geese are laying well - plenty of free range eggs to be had.

And of course - there are always some great cheeses, ham, bacon, sausages - not to mention conserves and chutneys.
